Quote-O-Quote

I lovvvve reading quotes and saving them here and there. When I get time (which I have been abundantly blessed with off late!) I randomly search for quotes. And I must confess, many a times, a simple quote / line has inspired me and given me that lil push. Sometimes it lingers in my mind for a long time, sometimes it flashes to my mind in a certain situation or most often I read a certain quote and it helps me reflect on certain situations / things / people. But most of the times, I end up forgetting a quote and then trying to trace it or googling for it with just a few broken words here and there can be a challenge!!

So, am gonna start saving my favorite quotes here!

Lessons learnt from Charlie - my goldfish!

Everyone likes to have a pet - from dogs to cats to birds to frogs : there is a pet for everyone.  But we were not really pet friendly, and both of us distance ourselves from people who have pet dogs. Yeah, so one common factor in all our friends is that none of them have dogs at home !! Lol.

But when we finally moved into our house, we knew we wanted some living being : something that was of course attractive to look at, easy to maintain, doesn't dirty our carpet, doesn't smell, isn't noisy, needs minimal effort & isn't life threatening (like dogs!!). Voila! A pet fish !!No grooming, no walking, no training, just clean its bowl and drop in some food.

The finicky pair that we are, we could not find a good spot for the fishie at home and that's when our dear friend J bought us a wall mounted fish bowl. It was the perfect solution - it is so beautiful and enticing to look at, saves space, keeps it off the reach of children, super attractive and most importantly turned our dull looking wall to an outstanding one! Thanks J for your awesomeness!!

So there we had our goldfish Charlie (later to be known as Charlie I) at home - he looked lovely - displaying his orangish golden body against the clear acrylic fish tank on the wall, with streaks of sunlight falling on him. It was love at first sight for me. I could stare at him for hours and watch him glide along.  No wonder that Feng Shui suggests that having a gold fish at home brings good luck - who wouldn't feel positive and refreshed looking at the beautiful being dancing up and down in the water. Talking of Feng Shui, though I do not believe in it, for my miniature blog aquarium  I decided to incorporate the 9 goldfish trick for good luck. Now I pity the black goldfish, cos he is burdened with absorbing all the bad luck.

Anyways, coming back to Charlie -well he was my best buddy now - I used to talk to him all the time and felt like I had company at home when Mr. Everything was at work. He loved to hear me talk as long as I promised to watch out for his new gliding tricks. We formed a very special bond.

But then like in movies or rather all good stories, things don't stay good forever and unfortunately for Charlie I decided to give his fish bowl a clean up and give him some fresh water to thrive in. Wrong wrong move!! He did not survive the water change. I was devastated - it felt like a lost someone who was so dear to me. Mr. Everything never knew why I was so upset, but I was shattered and maybe guilty too !

Charlie II enters the scene. Life is never back to the same even though they look the same. To me, the first fish was always close to my heart . Firsts of everything always hold a special place in our hearts irrespective of time or up gradations. So then, Mr Everything takes over cleaning the fish bowl and it really is not that complicated to change its water. So a month later, I decided to clean Charlie II's bowl - After all if Mr.Everything can do it,it can't be that hard and moreover with Google, what isn't possible? After lots of reading on the internet - I was ready for this big move!! And as much as I hate to say this - Charlie II did not survive either and there I was doomed as the "Serial Killer". Now I knew what Lisa Simpson went through when her cats kept dying - would I beat her record of Snowball V?

Anyways, I promised myself to never ever ever try my hand at cleaning the fish bowl again. Thanks to this, Charlie III has been with us for more than 7 months now and he is fine and healthy (touch wood) and has grown a lot and is even more magnificent then when he was a tiny lil fishie.

And that urban legend myth about goldfish having a 3 second retention span is so not true. Charlie III recognizes me and responds to me when he hears or sees me & he is more active too. He is definitely the smartest among all the other Charlies - or maybe I denied the others a chance!

I think I should have paid attention to the " Once Bitten, Twice Shy " saying and not tried to act smart with Charlie II. Well, I have learnt my lesson and Charlie III thanks me for that !! Lol.

Well, I'm gonna make a tutorial on " How to care for a gold fish " soon   Any takers for that?

Us : Illusion to Reality

I have always dreamt of a day . . .

When we are together

A day when We don't have to

Watch the door

Or Time our togetherness

A Day when we no longer talk

In Hushed Voices

Or code languages...

A Day when your gifts

Can come home with me too..

I'm living this day everday!

I have always hoped for a day . . .

When I din't have to lie

About something that was so right

And hold your hands so tight

And not worry of being seen

When I could shout to the world

That You have always been mine

I'm living my dream!

If I could have just one more wish

To remember everyday of my life

That I'm Living My Dream

I'm Living My Dream !!
